Every great story premise is a collision of forces. This tool builds prompts using a classic five-slot formula drawn from screenwriting and short-fiction craft: [Protagonist] + [Setting] + [Inciting conflict] + [Theme] + [Twist]. Each dropdown feeds one slot, and the generator stitches them into a grammatically complete, ready-to-write premise rather than a loose list of words.
When you press Generate, the algorithm picks one phrase from the active option pool for any slot you have left on its default, then selects a sentence template at random and fills the slots. A separate pool of twists — a secret, a deadline, a reversal, an unexpected ally — is appended so no two prompts feel identical even with the same genre. If you type a keyword, it is woven directly into the premise as an anchoring noun, which is useful when you want to write toward a specific image or word for a contest or daily exercise.
The math is simple but the space is enormous. With six genres, a dozen protagonists, a dozen settings, ten conflicts, ten themes, eight twists and four sentence templates, the combinatorial total runs into the hundreds of thousands of distinct prompts — far more than you could exhaust in a year of daily writing. Locking specific dropdowns lets you constrain the randomness: fix the genre to "mystery" and the theme to "redemption," and only the remaining slots shuffle. Everything runs client-side with zero network calls, so it works offline and your ideas never leave the page.
